Welcome to Haven House
"They helped me build my self-respect and self-esteem, and helped me rebuild my life."
- former resident
Our Mission
Haven House provides emergency housing and support services for one-parent and two-parent families with children. The shelter helps families who are homeless prepare for permanent housing by developing and promoting self-sufficiency, stability, and financial responsibility.
In addition to housing, residents receive meals, crisis counseling, assistance with goal setting and referral to other agencies as needed.
Partners in Progress is a transitional housing program to assist families after they leave the shelter. A Haven House staff member works with former residents to set realistic goals and monitor progress in employment, budgeting, and help connecting with the neighborhood and the community. During 2012 we helped 100 families successfully transition into permanent housing. More About Us
Group 31 Foundation Golf Outing
This year we have an opportunity to partner with Group 31 Foundation for their annual golf outing taking place on July 22nd at Lakelands Country Club in Brighton. Group 31 was founded by Ted Kuhns to honor the memory of three of his fraternity brothers who were killed in the early 1980s by a drunk driver. The foundation raises funds to support other charities such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Inner City Soup Kitchens of Detroit and the Penrickton Center for Blind Children.
Not only has Group 31 offered to make Haven House a beneficiary of the July Golf Outing, but we will receive 100% of the proceeds from any Haven House supporters who participate in the outing, sponsor a hole or donate auction items. There will also be a wine-auction dinner which Haven House supporters are encouraged to attend on Friday, October 18th, 2013. As with the Golf Outing, Haven House will receive 100% of the proceeds from any supporter who attends. This should be a wonderful event as well!
