Dear Friends,
Thank you for your ongoing support. We want to keep you informed on our response to the recent COVID-19 outbreak. We will continue to update this page.
Haven House is still providing shelter and re-housing services for our clients.
Emergency ShelterWe are currently at capacity with the temporary scattered site model which we are using as part of our COVID-19 response. Residents are staying at hotels and receiving daily case management with the goal of quickly reaching a home of their own. Thanks to your support, we are able to continue to provide families with all of the services they would receive at our on-site shelter - food, bus tokens, non-food stamp items, and support.
Partners-In-Progress ProgramWe continue to follow-up with families participating in our Partners-In-Progress aftercare program. We have suspended home visits, but continue to follow-up with families and provide non-food stamp item drop-off.
VolunteersWe are SO grateful to welcome our volunteers back.We missed you! You brighten our days and the days of our families everyday with your cooking, office work, time in the playroom, and in so many other ways.Learn about the many ways to
get involved.DonationsBecause of your generosity, we are able to continue to provide services to clients at this time. To continue our service offerings during this difficult time, we need your help! Your monetary gift makes a huge difference. Make a
donation here to continue to support local homeless families and ensure that they receive support throughout the year. We are NOT currently accepting "drop-offs" of non-monetary donations. We are accpepting items from our Urgent Needs list via our Amazon Wishlist account, only.
FAQ'SQ: Can I still call Haven House for assistance?
A: Yes, we have staff here ready to take calls from families seeking services and community members everyday from 8:00am-4:00pm. Call us at 517-337-2731.
Q: How are you sheltering families now?
A: At this time, we are sheltering families off-site at hotels using a scattered-site model. We are currently at capacity in our scattered-site shelter, but will continue to welcome families as we have capacity.
Q: When will Haven House accept new residents back in your shelter location on Whitehills Drive?
A. Our Board and staff are closely monitoring Ingham County Health Department, CDC, and State health recommendations. We will monitor public school openings and update you as soon as we know when our shelter will resume normal operations.
Q: If I make a financial contribution at this time, what will it be used for?
A: Your contribution helps us to pay costs for our temporary scattered site-shelter operations, prepare to welcome future clients, provide food and non-food stamp items to families in our Partners in Progress program (thirty formerly homeless families now in permanent housing), and support families in paying first month's rent, security deposits, and moving costs. Our staff continues to work each day to prevent homelessness for families calling us, and we continue to eagerly plan for when we can open our shelter again. To assist us financially in these efforts,
